When entered, it causes the game to prompt for an expansion disc.

This can be played using an undocumented cheat code discovered by the project leader of Half-Life: Decay 's PC port.
The only released addon was a port of Half-Life: Uplink released on a PlayStation Underground demo disc in the June 2002 issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine.

Marc Nagel from Sierra confirmed the game would receive mod support. On-line multiplayer did not make the final cut as the console's connectivity options were not available at the time for the developers to implement. It was later changed to two-player mode with eight bots. The game was announced by Sierra on Novem along with a two-player cooperative campaign known as Half-Life: Decay and a four-player multiplayer mode featuring 12 exclusive levels. They received their development kits in early April. Gearbox started making plans for the port with Sony in February of 2000. The companies began exploring the possibility of bringing the game to the PlayStation 2 as early as November of 1999. The game also features a two player multiplayer deathmatch mode (via split-screen) titled Head-to-Head and a new cooperative expansion called Half-Life: Decay that allowed players to play as the two female scientists Dr. The levels were also updated and extended based on the work from the Dreamcast port, and most of the bugs were ironed out, making it the most technologically advanced and stable version of the game to date. The character models are much more detailed, featuring eyes that track movement, facial expressions, and jointed fingers.
But despite these flawed modes the single-player story is so superb that it totally justifies the purchase.The most noticeable difference in this port is its improved graphics.

Deathmatches only support two players which is incredibly lame considering many PS2 first-person shooters support four. Decay the new cooperative mode seems like an afterthought and pales in comparison to the cooperative modes in Perfect Dark and Halo. Unfortunately the new modes aren't nearly as brilliant. Of course the single-player gameplay is excellent thanks to some very well-developed enemy artificial intelligence. The sound is also very good with some of the funniest voice acting yet heard in a game. The graphics here trump the originals (understandable since there are more than three years between the two releases)-the character models have four times as many polygons as well as smoother textures and animations. A typical day at the office goes completely awry as numerous alien life forms invade the facility the fate of said facility and quite possibly the world is in the hands of an unlikely hero. The game follows the escapades of Gordon Freeman a young research associate at the Black Mesa Federal Research Facility. This version contains the outstanding single-player story mode as well as a few new ones while the new additions aren't so great the story mode is one of the best adventures on the PS2. Now as a PlayStation 2 game it's never looked or played better. In 1998 the PC's original Half-Life changed first-person shooters forever by proving that a compelling story can be told within the genre prior to its release FPSs were mindless action games but although Half-Life certainly had its fair share of action it also contained plenty of exploration puzzle and story elements.
